Jennifer is hoping that bloggers will link up to develop a group of mentor texts for teaching kids about voice in writing. I was thrilled to link up because voice and word choice are my two favorite traits to teach. One of my favorite books to teach voice in writing is Piggie Pie by Margie Palatini. In the story, Gritch the Witch is hungry for some piggie pies. So she flies to Old MacDonald's farm for eight scrumptious pigs to make her pies. But when she arrives, there isn't a pig in sight. The book is hilarious with lots of voice in the witch and the pigs.
I'm excited to see what other books bloggers use to teach this trait!!
Also, there are a few giveaways that you'll want to enter!! Dana at Fun in 1st Grade is having a 300 follower giveaway!
Leslie Ann at Life in First Grade is giving away an Easi-Speak Microphone!
Thank you so much for sharing Piggie Pie. I find voice to be my most challenging trait to teach, so I really appreciate the resource. I would love to learn what else you do to teach voice...maybe another blog post?! :) I also love teaching word choice though!
