Students take a prompt from the jar. Each prompt is labeled by its type of writing (students write the type on their sheet). They write to their prompt and then follow the editing checklist when finished. The anchor charts and Common Core Standards can be posted at the station for reference. Now that I have taught all four types of writing I think my students will enjoy this jar. Most of them have gone through all the prompts in my other jar.

Many teachers, of course, have students in the primary grades that are ready for higher level prompts; while upper grade teachers may have students who need easier prompts.
