Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone had a great Halloween school day!  My class had a wonderful time!!  This year our costumes had a twist.  Students had to dress as a WordMasters Challenge word for their grade level.  I was worried that students would be upset that they weren't able to wear their regular costumes but they all accepted the challenge.  I chose to dress as a word from the fourth grade list, deluge.  It was a perfect word for the weather in Indiana today!  Most central Indiana towns have postponed trick-or-treating until tomorrow because of the deluge that's happening outside right now.  Here's a picture of our costumes.

This was one of our treats that we enjoyed today!  I found it on Pinterest and a student's mom made them.

Don't forget to check out the Halloween sales at TpT!

The following flip books are included with this topic: Multiplication Vocabulary Words, Multiplying Using Repeated Addition, Multiplying Using Arrays, Properties of Multiplication, and How to Solve a Multiplication Story Problem.  You can take a closer look here.
Stay tuned for many more topics to come!
Also, I'm having a Halloween sale at my TpT store!  You can save 15% off everything October 30th and 31st!

New and IMPROVED!!

My best selling product on Teachers Pay Teachers just got a well deserved makeover!  Here is the before picture:
I shiver when I look at my early products!!  Anyone else do that?
Here is the after picture:
Much more appealing to the eye!
Not only does it look cuter, but I've included six new activity cards and an editable Power Point of blank cards so the buyer can make their own.  Here's what the finished product looks like...
If you've already purchased my I'm Done Jar, run don't walk and download it now!  If you would like to take a closer look, you can click here or here!

I think I can, I think I can...

Only two more days until Fall Break!!  Nice, huh!  Except for the fact that I have 14 parent/teacher conferences tomorrow.  I'm not sure who decided it would be a good idea to fit an entire class of conferences into two days!
What math series does your school system use?  We use Envision Math from Pearson.  I've been working on flip books for each topic that help students learn all the vocabulary words.  So far I've finished two of the topics and am working on a third.  My plan is to offer all 16 topics in an Interactive Math Notebook but right now they can be purchased individually.  Here is a preview of the two I've finished.
My students are really enjoying the flip books.  It's much more fun that copying down all those vocabulary words from the board!!

Let me introduce myself...

Hi, my name is Aimee from Pencils, Book, and Dirty Looks.  It's been so long since I've had the time to really sit down and blog that I felt like I needed to introduce myself!  Luckily Farley's monthly currently gives me good reason to get back on track!
Listening...
Having a seven month old golden retriever in the house means there's never a dull moment (or a quiet one).  This is what happens when I turn my head for a second.  I promise you that allowing pets on the furniture, let alone the kitchen table, is not a common practice in my house!

Loving...
Today, for the very first time, one of my products made it into the TpT newsletter!  I never thought it was going to happen!  I woke up to the constant sound of feedback on my phone.  I could figure why my End of the Day Jar was getting so much attention first thing on a Sunday morning when it dawned on me that it must have made the newsletter!

Thinking...
I don't know about you but I dread the thought of preparing for a sub.  It takes me forever!  Before I got my first teaching job, I was a substitute teacher for several months.  It was awful when teachers left horrible plans.  Knowing this I tend to go overboard in my planning.  It will take me hours to plan for one day and this week I'll be out TWO days.  My brother-in-law is getting married in Charleston, SC this week (obviously he and his fiancee are not teachers!!).  We are leaving right after school on Wednesday for the big event and won't get back until late Sunday night.  Not only do I have to prepare for a sub for two days but I will not be around on Friday to get ready for the following Monday.  This is about to send me over the edge!!

Wanting...
Fall Break is exactly 18 days away, that is all...

Needing...
I decided to make Common Core check-lists for grades K-5.  I'm finished with kindergarten (and it took me forever!).  I need to find time to finish the other grades levels (especially 3rd and 4th since conferences are at the end of the month)!  If you are a kindergarten teacher and would like to take a look, click here!

Treat...
I love Fall!  Anything pumpkin is my favorite.  We have the most wonderful donut shop in Richmond! Square Donuts make the best pumpkin spice donuts (can't you just taste them!!).

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my October Currently!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
